Prescott Brewery is celebrating its 5th Birthday in April 2014. To mark this landmark event, we are launching a new permanent ale called Chequered Flag, a 4.1% hoppy amber ale which was previously our Summer Seasonal. James Bubb, Head Brewer commented that we received such good feedback for our CAMRA Gold winning seasonal ale that we have decided to give it a full-time slot, which nicely lines up between Hill Climb, our pale ale, and Track Record, our Best Bitter.
2014 is not only our 5th year of brewing it’s also the 80th Anniversary of the best known vintage sports car club in the land, the VSCC. To mark this occasion and to reinforce our strong motoring links, Prescott ales have commissioned their Cheltenham-based artist to create the new image for “Chequered Flag”, using one of the VSCC’s best known cars, the amazing Bentley Napier – a 24 litre aero engine car that was designed during the Second World War to deploy and test parachutes for the military.
To do this effectively the car needed amazing torque and power, hence the use of a powerful aero engine. This special car can be seen at Prescott Hill Climb’s VSCC in August this year where you can witness its menacing sound, flames, smoke and drama as it leaves the start line and makes its way up the famous track. Simply awesome.
Prescott Ales have agreed with the VSCC to run a limited batch of Chequered Flag bottles featuring this amazing Bentley flying machine, which will be sold at all VSCC events in 2014! Prescott will also have beer mats and posters made available of this amazing and historic Bentley.
